About this POdcast
WHY?
The podcast host has spent many years providing advice and support to veterans as they transition into the civilian world. Often answering over 50 emails a month to people from around the world, the host became a focus for many needing advice with their careers. Many of these veterans would share their amazing stories; tales of extreme courage, fear, humour, and the harsh reality of conflict.
Our Purpose
The primary intent of this podcast is to provide the human side of conflicts (not necessarily war) for a civilian audience. Through this storytelling, barriers and misconceptions can and will be broken down, helping veterans transition (with their immense skills and experience) back into the civilian world.
Our Approach
Our approach is to provide a platform for storytelling. The interview style is a casual conversation; questions will centre on a primary event and be focused on the guests’ emotions. The host will not pass comments or provide an opinion about the story.
The stories can be from anyone who has served in a conflict zone, in any capacity, from any branch of the military, civilian medical teams, and even the not-for-profit. The stories can be about a particular event or a wider conflict experience; they can be of any aspect of conflicts, from fear, adversity, morality to humour.
We focus on one story, something that is memorable, a time, or an event that sticks within your mind. It may seem mundane to you in the wider context of global conflict, but these are the authentic stories that we are seeking. Here are some ideas:
The first time you got attacked in conflict, how did you feel?
The first time you witnessed a tragic event in conflict.
The challenges and loneliness of leadership in conflict.
The event that made you laugh the most in conflict.
Did you ever feel scared, what was it like?
Overcoming adversity in conflict.
What frustrated you the most in conflict.
What lessons could you pass to others?
Not all details can be disclosed due to national security, so we would ask you to ensure your story can be publicly told.
Our podcast demographics
Our perfect audience demographic for Conflict Chronicles is those with no military service; their point of reference for conflict is traditional media or the movies.
The demographic might have family or friends who have been in a conflict zone but have no direct experience themselves. They are female or male, 16+, they are interested to know more about the realities of conflict, what is it like for the people on the frontline.
They generally listen to the podcast on a commute, or at home; they listen via their phone. They are active on social media and like to engage with brands and activities they find relevant.
Our business model
Conflict Chronicles has been fully funded by the host; it is not the host’s intent to earn a living from this podcast, merely to make it sustainable. The team has direct experience of large-scale charities and is not seeking to replicate any aspects of those, merely to promote veterans, their charities, and activities to a civilian audience.
